So how does the Computer Keyboard Work?

The computer keyboard is a device, commonly known as an input device. It could possibly be the most important input device for your computer and possibly the most used.

Typically the computer keyboard is used to type text and numbers into your computer, eg. internet browser, word documents and other programs that your computer runs. Computer keyboards can also be used to run certain shortcuts, such as control-alt-delete, which brings up tast manager.

Computer keyboards also have different types such as gaming keyboards, laptop keyboards, ergonomic keyboards, thumbsize keyboards, numeric keyboards and others.

There are also other types of computer keyboards including foldable keyboards, laser/infrared keyboards and chorded keyboards.

Learning to Type Computer Keyboards

So you have now learnt about the keyboard, so do you know how to use it? This part of this article will show give you some good typing tips.

First of all typing well is a very important part of computer knowledge and can improve your computer skills dramatically. Understanding the computer keyboard, the different parts and where your fingers should go for typing, is an essential skill.

When I was at school, I spent a significant amount of time practicing typing. This and continual practice has enabled me to type with a significant speed. So I suggest that if you would like to shorten the time you spend on a computer and make the time really useful, then spend some time mastering the keyboard.
